• "Crossing Bridges"

    It’s about hope.

    Hope for a bright future.

Belief that crossing an old bridge

Will lead to a bright, new world of experiences.

Life is a series of bridges that we cross; as we graduate from school, take on new jobs, move into new homes, have families… These changes can feel uncertain, but without making them, we’d miss out on the memorable sunrises and sunsets that come with each new day. The bridge pictured here is a historic local landmark, the Westham Island wood-deck truss bridge, located in Ladner, British Columbia. The bridge passes over Canoe Pass in the Fraser River Estuary and connects Ladner with Westham Island. The bridge's length is approximately 325 m (1066 feet) and was constructed between 1909 and 1912. “Crossing Bridges” was painted at a time that Ladner artist, Natalie Way, felt unease about changes in her own life but decided to focus on the positive. It continues to serve as a reminder that even when she doesn’t know what’s to come, to believe in the beauty of what is beyond. The original painting is a 36” x 24” acrylic on canvas.
  • DETAILS: 50 signed and numbered prints on watercolour paper, image size is 18” x 12” with white border and a single white archival mat with outside dimensions of 24" x 16".  (The original painting is a 36” x 24” acrylic on canvas.)
