I haven’t written many entries but that needs to change!

Since March and the Covid-19 shut downs, like many, I’ve had to readjust how I work. It’s normally my busy season for social painting events but of course, they all had to be cancelled or not planned at all.

Also, there are almost no opportunities to show art at markets or festivals, so how do many artists/artisans get out there to sell their work? Of course, we have online options, but it’s not the same as seeing work in person. I held my first front yard Garden Art Show at the end of May and it was actually really good! It won’t be my last. I created a one way walkthrough show that meandered down my driveway and gardens and back. So, distancing was achieved easily and we were safer outside!

More recently, an opportunity came along to be a partner in an artist-run gallery in Vancouver. Arts off Main has been running for around 17 years; originally off Main Street, but now it’s just off vibrant Commercial Drive! Even this gallery and gift store was closed for awhile, but as of July 1st, it’s open again (Thursday-Sunday 11am-5pm) and I’m very excited to be a part of a team of 9 local artists!

Things are different these days but we can be creative in its face and figure out new ways to keep going. We have to!
