It may be strange to do this, but my first blog post is going to be a link to my mentor’s newsletter on an experience we recently shared. Morgan Bricca is an established mural artist in the San Francisco bay area with over 400 murals under her brush. Four years ago, I found her online when researching mural painting as a viable business option in addition to painting on canvas etc. She was incredibly positive and successful; leading me to have faith that I too could venture down this path.
Morgan created a “Master Class” for exterior mural painting, in which she offered several artists the opportunity to work with her on a public mural project. Serendipitously, I saw the offer, jumped at the chance and entered my application. I was excepted and flew to sunny Cali. As expected, the week working with other artists was enriching on many levels. I will write more about it another day, but if your so inclined, please first read Morgan’s review of the experience and why we share the view that we, as mural artists, have an opportunity to serve our communities – Art as Service & Apprenticeship
